Petersen Family Reunion

So the First Petersen Family Reunion took place last weekend at Pierre's Point Family Campground in Salmon Arm and I think we all had a really good time. I know that we did for sure starting with the drive up there. For those of you not familiar with BC Salmon Arm is a 3 hour drive north from Penticton. North of Vernon the scenery becomes more like southern Ontario for me. There are corn fields, cow pastures and farmland just like at home. The mountains are a little bigger than the Niagara Escarpment but not that much. When we got there I was so happy that our campsite was within view of the beautiful Shuswap Lake. I love the water so much for 2 reasons. The first is that  I grew up in the Great Lakes Area and I am used to having water around and number 2 I find it so peaceful. Whenever I am stressed out or unhappy all I have to do is sit by the water and I immediately feel better. I love everything about it except for swimmers itch that thankfully I did not get! The only thing that I was not too happy about was the bathrooms because they were so dirty and infested with spiders! The note on the door said they were cleaned twice a day but I don't think they were even cleaned once in the whole 3 days that we were there. Gross! I even liked the trains that ran by every 40 mins and shook the ground and blew their whistles when we were sleeping better than those bathrooms! Ick!! On Saturday we all headed out to Herald Provincial Park to check out Margaret Falls which was absolutely amazing!!! There is a cave behind the falls part way up and some of the family climbed up to go inside. I didn't climb up but I wish that I had even if the water was freezing cold. I may take another trip up there just for that purpose! I got some really great pics of everyone and of the trail going up. I am so glad we got to do that! This year there were no planned activities except for a pot luck dinner on Saturday night with a birthday cake for Dane afterward. Everybody brought some really yummy dishes so high fives to everyone for a great dinner! I think next time everyone would like to see some planned events so we all better start thinking of some games now so we can add that to our next reunion! I personally like a water balloon toss or a relay race carrying an egg on a spoon. I like the idea of teams because it's a great way to learn to work together. The rest of the trip was just relaxing on the beach and at our site and it was so nice to just chill and visit with everyone. I can't believe that summer is half over and my 2 big events are over :( but I think that Doug and I may get one last camping trip in together. This time it will just be the 2 of us so we can enjoy each others company on our own. That does not happen very often so it will be something that I really will be looking forward to! Happy summer everyone!

  2. Ha ha ha It's funny that it's all the ones our age that were happy to chill and the younger ones that wanted activities! Oh to be young and filled with energy again! I also like to visit and catch up with everyone....so relaxing!

Sarah's beautiful flower tatoos done by her very talented boyfriend John. These are Dylan and Victoria's birth month flowers and they are so beautiful! I love that they have that connection because they all live so far away from each other. Way to go John for doing such a fabulous job! I'm sure it is stunning in person and I am hoping to be able to experience that soon! Miss you sweetie :) xoxoxoxoxoxox

Hibiscus

Hibiscus
One of my favorite flowers but never have any luck growing them! This time I have taken the time to read up on them. Well I found out that they have a dormant period in the winter and lose their leaves. Because they are dormant they don't need much water. Guess what I was doing to them? Oh yeah I was watering the heck out of them thinking they were dying! LOL DUH!!!! So maybe research before buying is a good thing! haha I'll keep you posted on how this one does!

So sad when a beautiful piece of property like this one succumbs to the modern world. This land will soon house a movie theater and some commercial stores! :(
